There was alot of interesting fashion at the Video Music Awards last night, here are our picks for the best and worst dressed...

The Good...

The Bad and Bizarre...

As far as our favorites go, Adele and Beyonce look effortless and absolutely stunning. Demi and Miley are representing for the younger generation keeping their look young and fun. Kanye and Taylor pulled through for the guys with the ombre denim look and simple suit jacket. We had to give Britney credit this year, yes it's a little on the safe side but she's in great shape and pulled off her look in all black. And Zoe, she just looks stunning all of the time.

Well the bad was really bad this year... Justin Bieber what's with the snake as an accessory? The glasses, the shoes, it's all really bad. Deena and Snooki need to hire a stylist ASAP, the tranny look just does not work. Nicki Minaj wore everything except for the kitchen sink and we don't really understand this outfit at all. Katy Perry is usually in a wacky outfit of some kind but she usually pulls it off better than she did last night. And then there's Gaga... it's all becoming too much and we expect something outrageous from her but this is by far our least favorite look she's ever done.

The chevron is such a cool interpretation of the classic spring stripe trend. This halter dress is beyond cute - and extremely flattering for so many body types.

Also the short sleeve henley stripe is literally the softest thing we have ever felt! So comf we want to wear it every day!

This relaxed v-neck tee is a no-brainer. Obviously Taylor Jacobson from the Rachel Zoe Project agrees with us - she recommended it as her favorite pick for spring - it already sold out on the Michael Stars website!!

We cannot even TELL YOU how excited we are that the maxi dress is BACK for Spring 2011! This time around, the maxi dress is making it's grand entrance into the season with vibrant colors and bold prints, referencing yet again that 70's vibe we've seen come in style in a may-juh way this spring.

The maxi is so easy and feminine, we cannot help make it our Spring staple. (Okay, call us lazy, but throwing on one item of clothing to make an outfit is pretty awesome). This just in: Joe's Jeans "The Shirt"

We were totally excited when tried and true denim brand, Joe's Jeans, launched "The T" and "The Shirt" as a new extension of their label. We started out with a few "T" styles, which turned out to be an instant hit here at r&l, and have since ordered some "Shirt" looks as well. Joe's knows their fit. The pieces are so cool and easy, but have an incredibly decadent hand and great contemporary look/fit.

This is probably my favorite shade of fuschia and it is even a little bit deeper and richer in person. New Sugar Lips ribbon trim layered short sleeve top ($79)- love it. I've been trying really hard to squash this urge to talk about my absolute FAVORITE show right now- the Real Housewives of Atlanta. I know that it is total unnecessary drama and silly and all of those adjectives that people say about reality tv and how it turns your brain into mush but.....I like it, I really, really like it (alright, I actually LOVE it) and can't help but get a little flutter when I know a new episode is on.

NeNe is my favorite- she tells it like it is and I can appreciate her fresh boldness. Sort of starting to like Lisa but I felt that in previous episodes that she was playing both sides and I didn't like the phoniness. Sheree and Kim can have each other and go fly a kite- if you're watching the show, you know what I mean. And for Deshawn, I'm indifferent, sweet but not too much going on there.

Ok, I am glad that I was able to tell the world about this love affair- I feel much better now. I can get back to posting about Reggie & Luca but are as you as excited about the Reunion as I am? Remember my earlier posting about the small luxuries in life? Well, that hour of pure drama next week- PURE LUXURY!!!!!

Alright- let's be real, I have never been a fan of skinny jeans on my 5'1" frame until......these Genetic Shane skinny black jeans came into my life. At once, I began to start thinking of all the tops that I could introduce to my new friend- long tunics with slouchy boots for a la boheme effect, loose cardigans over a flowy tank and my jeffrey campbell black booties. OH-The possibilities!!!

My husband and I were at a birthday dinner last night and were discussing the economy with friends. And we all came to one small but great conclusion-

despite what horrible circumstances that the country is in- we need to be active and do our part.

We live in a great city and tight community, we need to support our local small businesses. There is no need to drive out of Riverside for a gourmet meal, new car, fun entertainment, fabulous fashion- we have it here.

It's not going to change the world- but we can do our part to drive our local economy and help our fellow Riversiders get past this scary time. So...cheers to Riverside!! BTW- we had a amazing tasting dinner last night at Mario's- every course was beyond words- and we drove about 5 minutes to get there.

We are so excited to finally have our very own blog!! We believe it will be a fabulous new way to let you know about us, our new merch, sales, and more. If you have never visited us before ( I know, I know- you happen to always go to Trader Joe's and never venture over to our side:)), we are in the lovely and newly renovated Riverside Plaza on the west end- next to El Torito and Jos A Bank.
